Wise words from 2300 years ago

Herophilus, a student of Hippocrates, wrote c. 300 B.C.E.:

"When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot become manifest, strength cannot be executed, wealth is useless and reason is powerless."

Smart guy. He is known as the father of anatomy. There he was, a Greek physician in Alexandria, Egypt, 300 BCE, and he was able to differentiate afferent (sensory) nerves from efferent (motor) nerves.
